Get.Shit.Done!
People want you to do good but never better than them…remember that. In a world where everybody is trying to compete and just trying to be on top it is hard to turn and ask someone for help. That shouldn’t stop you from doing what you want to do and it damn sure didn’t stop me. If you want something done you have to do it yourself, thanks to my mom for constantly reminding me of that. Becoming an entrepreneur causes for you to wear many hats, definitely if you are starting a business alone. When I started and still to this day my best friend goes by the name of Google. Any question you have just ask Google and I promise you will find an answer (not saying all the answers are 100% correct).
So after I had the idea that I wanted to start a handbag shop I had to get down to the nitty gritty and figure out what it is that I need to do to get this thing going. Website, business cards, logo, flyers, tax id, sales and use permit, business license, hang tags, gift bags, shipping boxes, product, money, money, and did I mention MONEY? These were just some of the things I needed in order to start my business but figuring out how to get all this done was what I had to research. I reached out to my very successful uncle who is like the guru of selling products, he has his own business selling shoe strings (and yes shoe strings is making him $$$$) so he guided me in the right direction to obtaining everything I needed in order to start.
REWIND… to be honest I didn’t really know for certain that handbags was what I was going to sell on my site, first I told him I was going to go thrifting and resale the clothes, then I said maybe sell gym clothes, and then it was jewelry. Although I was already selling handbags on Poshmark I didn’t completely decide that handbags was what I wanted to sell until he took me with him one day to a handbag wholesale outlet. Can we say Heaven? I mean purses galore! At that moment I knew handbags was the item I was definitely going to sell.
Okay fast forward, so back to starting my business and getting shit done. If you know me personally then you know I am eager and always ready to work so for me I wanted to get this stuff done as soon as possible. Yea I know great things come with time, but I wanted it NOW. I came up with the idea around April 2015, started creating my website and ordering supplies July 2015 and by September 21, 2015 VITAL XII was now open for business. If you want a good outcome you have to be dedicated, you have to work hard and give it your all. This is a struggle I still face because working my 9-5 and running a business by any means is NOT easy but what I will say is do not procrastinate, JUST DO IT, GET SHIT DONE.
