Shopify x Mailchimp Meetup

Hey E-preneurs! So last night I had the opportunity to volunteer and attend the Shopify x Mailchimp Meetup. If you are not familiar, Shopify is an e-commerce platform for sellers and Mailchimp is an email marketing service for people and businesses. I use both tools to run my online store so I am very familiar with them both and was eager to participate in this event when I received the email notification. The event was held at the Mailchimp Headquarters which is located in Atlanta inside Ponce City Market. I volunteered to work the sign-in table so when I arrived I was directed to the table by Natasha Murphy who is with Nicely Built, an authorized Shopify plus Partner who helps build e-commerce sites for small businesses and enterprise clients. I helped guest sign in and fill out their name cards. All guest received one free pin and baggie from Mailchimps E-commerce store Freddie & Co. The pins were awesome they were all inspired by Atlanta Rappers. There was a snow cone for Gucci Mane, a pyramid with Swagonometry written inside for Young Thug, and a purple umbrella with rain on it for Future.

After guest signed in they were free to network, mingle, and have drinks and refreshments until the speakers started. The speakers for the night were none other than Meg and Melissa. Meg and Melissa started Freddie & Co. which is MailChimp's e-commerce store.

Mailchimps team members started their own online store to get a feel of what their customers go through with building and marketing their e-commerce sites. Meg documented her journey of the e-commerce store and sent out email updates weekly. The weekly newsletter was called “What’s in Store”, I absolutely loved it because it shared many struggles and tips the women had to go through in order to build their store.Their weekly newsletter reminded me a lot of “Diaries of an E-preneur” because it shared their journey of running an e-commerce store, I think that is why I was soo in love with it.

At the meetup, Meg and Melissa shared experiences they went through with the store and also did a Q&A session for people with questions. They were extremely friendly and gave pertinent information for people in e-commerce. This was definitely an amazing opportunity, I encourage you to see what meetups are in your area.
