5 Great Reads for E-preneurs
Hey E-Preneurs! Want to learn some new things? Take a look at my Starter 5, these are the first 5 books I read when I decided to become an E-preneur and I must say they all were extremely helpful when trying to learn more about the E-biz definitely when you’re doing it all alone! Check them out:
1. Kick Ass Social Commerce for E-Preneurs Author: John Lawson
So this was the first book I read when I started my entrepreneurial journey and it’s by none other than John Lawson (my super cool, kick ass, e-commerce strategist uncle). He makes it very clear throughout the book that “It’s not about likes- It’s about sales” and that’s something very important that I'm learning now. What’s the point of having all of these instagram/facebook likes and followers if it’s not making you any sales?? I can now look past who is liking my post if it’s not turning into a conversion! This book is a good read if you need some tips on social media marketing and how to produce good content.
2.Start your own Import/Export Business Author: Rob and Terry Adams
This was the next book I read on my journey, one of my co-workers who use to be in the import/export business gave me this book along with Start Your Own Wholesale Distribution Business when I told her I was starting an online business. This book is vital if you are trying to get into the import/export business because it gives you the history on this industry as well as finding out your niche. Being that I’m an importer I found it helpful to know about the process of importing, pricing your items, and learning about international trading.
3. Start your own Wholesale Distribution Business Author: Bridget McCrea
Another great read! The wholesale distribution business is not what I do however I do buy my products wholesale so it is imperative to understand the business and know how the wholesalers work. The wholesale distribution is on a very different level, you have to deal with a lot more inventory and constantly getting the same products out to the retailers but if the wholesale business is something you are into, definitely grab this one!
4. Best Marketer Wins Author: Ming Lee
Ming Lee is one of the BEST when it comes to marketing! From her promo videos for her hair line to her stunning product pics, this girl has got IT! In Best Marketer Wins she talks about planning out your ideas, setting goals, and actually doing things to accomplish those goals. The book is like a workbook, there are a lot of fill-in the blanks so you can plan out your goals and obtain them and that’s something special about this book that I really like. On many of the pages you will find a “Ming Moment” posted at the bottom where she gives little fun facts about her journey and that too is something cool I like about this book. If you need some marketing tips then this is definitely a great read for you.
5. No Limits Author: Michael Bowen
Wow, this book is amazing and will definitely have you shifting your mindset. I went to Texas this summer to visit my grandfather and one of my uncles gave me this book, his friend is the author and as soon as I started reading it I couldn’t put it down. I literally read this whole book on my way back to Atlanta. This book was so informative I even read it twice! Now one of my all-time favorite books that totally changed my life is Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill ( I didn’t have the hard copy of this book that’s the only reason I didn’t list it haha) but this book reminds me a lot of Think and Grow Rich which is why I love it so much. Bowen really gets your mind racing and looking at things in a different perspective. The book outlines 10 principles to position yourself to get what you really want and to literally shift your mind to have a NO LIMIT mindset. One of the principles in the book is to “Understand your Triggers” and I think that is important because a lot of times we get distracted by things which make us procrastinate, but it is key to understand what is triggering those procrastination's.
These are just a few books that got me pumped up in my journey and I think these may be helpful to you as well if you are in or trying to get in the e-commerce biz, so please check these out and let me know what you think!
